Tom Cruise is a versatile actor with a career that has spanned over 25 years. Oprah Winfrey celebrated highlighted the movie highlights of his Hollywood tenure.

Tom Cruise has an acting career that has spanned 25 years. The fresh faced actor careened into stardom as a fresh faced teenager in his coming of age movie Risky Business. The A-list actor has been nominated for the Oscar Best Actor Awards for his films Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia. He has recently been nominated for the Golden Globe Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Tropic Thunder.

  • Magnolia was an epic drama, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, that was nominated for three Oscars, including the nomination for Cruise as Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2007.
  • Jerry Maguire - Cruise portrayed a sports agent with one client, played by Cuba Gooding Jr., the movie line ‘Show me the money!’ became a catch phrase around the country. Jerry Maguire was the breakout movie for Renee Zellweger, his love interest. In a romantic moment the phrase ‘You complete me’ melted hearts. 1996
  • Born on the Fourth of July - Cruise portrayed Ron Kovic, in a true story about a soldier paralyzed in the Vietnam War who felt betrayed by the U.S. .   • Mission Impossible - This series of three films was based upon the original television series. Tom portrayed American spy Ethan Hunt in the action packed thrillers. Cruise did many of his own stunts, including hanging off the mountain ledge holding a thin wire.
  • War of the Worlds - Steven Spielburg directed this thriller about aliens, which was nominated for three Oscars. 2005.
  • Collateral – Cruise portrayed a contract killer who forced a cab driver (Jamie Foxx) along an a terrifying ride in a dark performance. Directed by Michael Mann. Released in 2004, Collateral was nominated for two Academy Awards.
  • Minority Report was a futuristic thriller directed by Steven Spielburg . 2002.
  • A Few Good Men - Cruise portrayed Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee, assigned to defend two Marines on trial for murder. An often quoted movie moment between Tom and Jack Nicholson included the lines ‘I at the Truth.’ To which Nicholson shouted ‘You can’t handle the truth!’ 1992
  • Rain Man - Cruise was paired with Dustin Hoffman as Charlie Babbit, the wheeler dealer yuppie brother of an autistic man. Rain Man won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1988.
  • Top Gun - Cruise told Oprah that filming Top Gun as a dream come true because he had dreamed of being a pilot His best memories of filming the movie are or riding motorcycles and flying in an f-14 plane. One of his classic movie moments was when his character, Maverick, serenaded love interest Kelly McGillis with You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling. 1986
