Mandy Moore's shocking engagement and Claire Danes distances herself even more from her controversial past relationship.

Mandy Moore’s publicist confirms the singer/actress is engaged to her boyfriend of almost a year, singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Adams. The news is a little shocking as many people didn’t know she and Adams were very serious or even back together. The couple has been dating on and off since March 2008 but broke up in July of that same year. Adams said Moore’s high profile lifestyle didn’t fit with his. He went on to say “I’m allergic to the paparazzi.” It’s not clear when the couple got back together or got engaged.

Moore’s Romantic Past

Moore’s first high profile romance was with That ‘70s Show star Wilmer Valderrama. The couple dated for 18 months before calling it quits. Moore then went on to date tennis pro Andy Roddick for two years and Scrubs star Zach Braff.

More recently, Moore has been linked several times to Adam Goldstein, better known as “DJ AM”, a well-known Los Angeles deejay. Goldstein and Moore dated for a brief three months in 2007 and mutually broke up in March of the same year. However, in September 2008, Goldstein and drummer Travis Barker were the only two survivors of a plane crash that left them severely injured and burned.

Moore rushed to Goldstein’s side when news broke of the crash and she was spotted having lunch with his parents near the hospital. The couple was spotted several times together once he was released from the hospital which sparked rumors the pair got back together. Those rumors were shot down with news of Moore’s engagement to Adams.

Claire Danes

Claire Danes, has confirmed she is engaged to British actor Hugh Dancy. The quiet couple met in 2007 while filming the drama Evening and have been inseparable ever since.

Danes’ Past Romances and Controversy

Best known for her role on television series My So-Called Life and movie Romeo + Juliet, Danes was most notably linked to Australian rocker Ben Lee. The couple mainly stayed out of the spotlight but their six-year relationship came to an end in 2003 amid rumors of infidelity on Danes’ part. It was rumored Danes cheated on Lee with Stage Beauty and Princess Mononoke co-star Billy Crudup but Lee denies that’s the official reason.

Crudup, at the time, was in a long-term relationship with seven-months-pregnant-girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker. Danes and Crudup came under great scrutiny when they started being photographed together. The two separate camps denied any wrong doing and insisted both parties were separated from their counterparts before pursuing a relationship together.

There's no official word on a wedding date yet for either couple.
